Colin Sutherland is the new CEO of Bobit Business Media, a trusted media partner in business-to-business communications specializing editorial, opinion and industry-thought leadership expressed in print, digital, events, social media, and video.
Since he started working in his family’s B2B marketing agency in 1988, Colin has taken a client-side, immersive approach to marketing communications. With a passion to understand client’s marketing objectives for share of mind brand marketing, or lead and sales focused share of market campaigns, Colin established himself as the marketing right arm for some of the world’s largest brands. In 1996, one of Colin’s clients, Freightliner Canada, division of Daimler, hired him to drive aftermarket sales programs for its national network of dealerships. During this time, Colin developed his skill to develop a holistic ecosystem approach to marketing that served the needs of corporate headquarters, as well as independent business dealers and hundreds of suppliers who sold their products through the ecosystem.
In 2002, Colin connected with the founder of a family business in software engineering and joined the business to build a sales and marketing ecosystem. Over 20 years, he grew the company sales to be the largest in the world with a focus on being inclusive with partners knowing that a rising tide lifts all boats.
In 2024, having the experience of hindsight, knowing that the B2B publishing community was once accountable for auditing and making its print circulation demographics available, and seeing how marketing budget spending favors large companies with teams of professionals working website SEO, pay per click advertising, Colin became keenly aware of the limited future that the small medium business community has to find a voice, create growth in both brand and revenue.
Colin actively supports original writing, journalists, and editors. Colin actively supports the creative community in film, video, and photography with his studio that he makes available for creators several days each month at no cost. Colin believes in the power of business associations and the need for business employees to become active members in their local associations for professional development.
As CEO of Bobit, Colin promises to be an advocate for the B2B community, to continue to invest in and explore original content delivery with creative tools and platforms and to engage in transparency and accountability for outcomes.
