Greg Cohen

Greg Cohen is the interim executive director at the American Automotive Leasing Association. He also provides government affairs consulting to a variety of transportation industry clients, including motor carriers, the road safety industry, small vehicle supply businesses and engineering firms. For much of his career, he was President & CEO of the American Highway Users Alliance, which represents motoring clubs, truckers, vehicle and energy manufacturers, and highway construction interests in the nation’s capital. Mr. Cohen is an expert in transportation government affairs, highway engineering, congestion relief solutions, road safety, project planning and the environmental review process for infrastructure projects.
Greg served as a professional staff member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee at the U.S. House of Representatives where he was responsible for oversight of the Federal Highway Administration’s implementation of the groundbreaking transportation bill, “TEA 21”. As a licensed Professional Engineer, Greg’s primary role on the Committee was to provide technical policy recommendations for Congress in the areas of highway planning, engineering, and construction. Cohen coordinated Congressional oversight hearings and drafted legislation to eliminate highway funding cuts and streamline environmental reviews.
Before joining the Committee, he served as a Highway Engineer with the Maryland State Highway Administration. Greg has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Master of Engineering in Transportation Engineering and Planning from the University of Maryland at College Park.
