Jim Park

Equipment Editor | Heavy Duty Trucking Magazine | Bobit

Jim began covering the trucking industry as a trade journalist in 1999, following a 20-year stint as a professional over-the-road truck driver. He began contributing to HDT in 2006. Since then, he has penned over 500 articles and commentary pieces along with more than 200 industry related videos and podcasts. Throughout his journalism career, Jim has focused on the how-to type of story, or stories aimed at helping readers understand emerging technologies. Jim has also authored several research papers, including one for the International Conference on Fatigue Management in Transportation Operations (2005), and two for the Canadian Transportation Research Forum (2002 and 2003). Jim has also worked in radio as a broadcast journalist, news anchor and host of an overnight radio program aimed at long-haul truck drivers. Jim turned his considerable industry insight into six Kenneth R. Wilson awards for Canadian business journalism, eight Jessie H. Neal awards for American Business Journalism, and one gold award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors. When Jim isn’t digging into some emerging trucking technology, he’s a freelance podcast producer and the sound engineer for a musical theater production company. He also enjoys golfing and motorcycle riding, and has an abiding interest in general aviation.
