Join Bruce Landsberg, vice chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), to explore the hot-button issues in roadway safety today. Drawing on NTSB’s investigations of crashes and the board’s transportation safety research, Landsberg will analyze the staggering negative trends in crashes with a particular focus on distraction due to cell phone use, substance abuse, sleep apnea, and fatigue. He’ll then bring forth the board’s evaluations of solutions such as speed limiters, new policies and drug testing for marijuana, automated driving systems, the relay driver model, and more. Finally, Landsberg will discuss the evolution of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) to autonomy and how safety must be managed along this path.
