In this role, Mr. Viola is responsible for the entire lifecycle of Purolator’s Canadian fleet, a total of over 5,000 class 4 curbside delivery vehicles and up to class 8 highway tractors and trailers. The fleet department consists of 169 Purolator technicians, a fleet support administration team and 46 on-site service locations along with third party service suppliers.
Mr. Viola has been instrumental in introducing hybrid electric technology to Purolator’s pick up and delivery class 4 vehicles. Purolator currently operates hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) in selected major centers throughout Canada. He has tested EV vehicles in the “final mile delivery fleet” and plans to rollout 5 EV vehicles later this year.
Mr. Viola has played an active role in hybrid technology within the HEV industry. He is a member of a number of professional associations including NAFA, CALSTART, and EMC Electric Mobility Canada, a non-for-profit advisory group promoting electric vehicle technology in Canada.
